Asia Society and the Institute for Vietnamese Culture and Education (IVCE), in association with the Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, present:

6:00 pm - Reception and exhibition tours
8:00 pm - Performance

Two of Vietnam's most esteemed musicians bring their music to the Asia Society. Ms. Nguyen Thanh Thuy presents the exquisite music of the dan tranh (zither), a traditional instrument originally from the city of Hue, where it was played in the royal courts.

Ms. Ngo Tra My, a renowned performer and teacher, plays the dan bau (traditional Vietnamese monochord), an unusual instrument with only one string. Its evocative sound is surprisingly versatile and covers three-octaves and a lyrical Vietnamese folk repertoire.

Join us to experience the beauty of Vietnam's traditional music in an intimate concert on the 8th floor of the Asia Society.

This program is in conjunction with Asia Society's current exhibition Ancient Arts of Vietnam.
